Welcome to Play and Grow Play Therapy Services, Training and Supervision in Sussex.

Play and Grow was set up to provide a therapeutic, confidential service for children, young people and adults in West Sussex, based in Haywards Heath and the surrounding area, offering:

• Play Therapy: Individual or group Play Therapy for Children, young people and adults. Sessions last 45-60 min.
• Filial Play Coaching: A programme of 12 to 15 sessions coaching parents in non-directive play skills to enhance Parent and Child relationships.
• Clinical Supervision: For trainees and qualified practitioners individually or in groups.
• Workshops on the different aspects of play therapy for School Staff and Parents/Carers. 
• Workshops for parents and babies on the importance of play for the pre-verbal child.

Referrals are accepted from Doctors, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Head Teachers, Teachers, SENCO, Family Support Workers and Parents/Carers.

After the referral is made and parental consent is given, I use SDQ (Goodman Strength and Difficulties Questionnaires) and parental interview firstly without the child and then with the child to gain an overview, assess and plan the appropriate intervention. This is crucial to determine whether the referral of play therapy is suitable and appropriate. The first two assessment sessions are free of charge.

Cost will be determined by the service required.

Sessions can be carried out in schools, family centres, Contact centres or in my own practice when appropriate.
